Shrek the Musical Jr. is playing at Central Middle School’s Community Auditorium on March 1st and March 2nd at 6:30 p.m. and March 3rd at 2:00 p.m. The Lincoln Elementary cast and crew contains 152 students in 1st-5th grade led by a team of parent and teacher volunteers.
Shrek The Musical JR. is based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film and fantastic Broadway musical, Shrek The Musical Jr., follows everyone’s favorite ogre, Shrek, as he leads a cast of fairytale misfits on an adventure to rescue a princess and find true acceptance. Part romance and part twisted fairy tale, this is an irreverently fun show with a powerful message for the whole family.
Once upon a time, in a far away swamp, there lived an ogre named Shrek. One day, Shrek finds his swamp invaded by banished fairytale misfits who have been cast off by Lord Farquaad, a tiny terror with big ambitions. When Shrek sets off with a wisecracking donkey to confront Farquaad, he’s handed a task — if he rescues feisty princess Fiona, his swamp will be righted. Shrek tries to win Fiona’s love and vanquish Lord Farquaad, but a fairytale wouldn’t be complete without a few twists and turns along the way.
“This is our eleventh year of offering top-notch productions. Our program provides an opportunity for all our students to experience theater and what it means to be part of a team. “The students spent months rehearsing and preparing for the show & it shows!” commented Jen Finger, Director.
